What is byo.fm?

byo.fm is a web site which allows you to create your own radio station. Owning a radio station used to cost millions of dollars. Now, using your computer you can create a customized radio station that plays your favorite songs along with weather, news, traffic, sports, and other information that interests you.

Is byo.fm free?

Yes. Anyone can sign up for byo.fm using only an email address and password.

How do I add music to my station?

You can use the free Station Builder software to add music to your radio station. After you install Station Builder, just run it and then drag some music files or folders

What type of music files do you support?

byo.fm supports files in these formats: .mp3, .mp4, .aac, .m4a, .wma, and .ogg.

Can I upload files which are locked with DRM?

No, byo.fm does not support files which are encrypted with digital rights management (DRM).

Can I upload files in lossless formats?

No, byo.fm does not support files which are encoded in lossless formats (i.e. WAV or FLAC).

How many files can I upload to my station?

With the free account you can upload about 400 songs (2 GB) to your radio station.

What if I want to add more music?

If you want to upload more than 400 songs to your radio station you can sign up for a Premium account from our partner site MP3tunes. They offer more storage options which will allow you to add 10,000 or more songs.

Do I have to use a web browser to listen to my radio station?

No, you can use a supported Internet radio device, an iPhone or iPod touch, or your Android phone. Just select the "byo.fm" playlist.
